Monsoonal Poetry

reluctant

I asked amma, "amma, are you happy?"
she looked at me,
A deep silent sigh!
"I am , after all, we are a family now"
she whispered
a cornered smile
too tired for a smile
she had gone through miles
A husband who seeked the warmth of another
In laws who smashed the petals of the flower
"I am happy" , said the pale reflection in the mirror!
Oh, that reluctant smile on the mirror.
